I subscribe to Adobe now for my photoshop.

Now when I try to open multiple files, there are always some that open just black with jagged marks on them. What is this please?

I have to sometimes open the files multiple times until it will open as it should.

This is really affecting my work flow and there must be a reason this is happening. I am really struggle to find a solution or any help. Could anyone offer some advice please?

Many thanks

Make sure you display device driver is the latest one available for your adapter,  Try turning off use Graphics processor in your Photoshop Preferences performance section.

Guys, thank you so much, this seems to have worked. I'd never have worked this out without you. Thank you for taking the time to help me :-) Happy weekend

Make sure you go to the manufactures web site of your Display Adapter and get their latest device driver.  You do not want to use Photoshop without GPU support sever Photoshop features require the use of a Graphics Processor like 3D feature, Liquify filter etc...

If you open one of these "black" documents on its own, does it open successfully. What format is it?

Which version of Photoshop and OS?

Hi Derek, so I open a file as normal and it comes up black with a crackle across it. I just close it again and open again a number of times until it will open okay.

It doesn't happen to all files and it doesn't appear to corrupt them.

It's photoshop CC 2017 and my OS is Windows 10

Have you tried JJMack's suggestion, untick Use Graphic Processor, found in Photoshop preferences?
