Photoshop fails when using brush tool

Adobe Photoshop Version: 25.9.0 20240516.r.573 296f739 x64

 

System Info:

Windows 11 Pro

Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13900K 3.00 GHz

GPU NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080
Installed RAM 64.0 GB (63.8 GB usable)
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

 

Draw a basic shape with the brush tool. Create new clipping layer set to multiply blend mode. Change to soft brush in Dissolve mode. Draw shadow over shape. Create new clipping layer set to screen blend mode.  Draw highlight over shape. Photoshop fails.

I've just installed Photoshop (Beta) and that has resolved the issue.

Thanks James. I've tried each of your suggestions with no such luck. 

 

1.  I'm already on Photoshop 25.9 - this is latest, correct?

2. No unusual brush settings

3. I have reset preferences

4. NVIDIA drivers are up to date (see below)
