Question

Photoshop flashing black screen

I've posted about this before but there was no solution.

When using photoshop brush based tools the whole screen goes black every couple seconds. This is nerve wracking and make using PS impossible. Is there a solution for this issue? This continues for me since CS6 through CC2018.

I'm on MacOS 10.13.1

First, try disabling GPU in the preferences (Performance). Any better?

If not, recalibrate and build a new ICC display profile; the old one might be corrupted. If you are using software/hardware for this task, be sure the software is set to build a matrix, not LUT profile, Version 2, not Version 4 profile.

If turning OFF the GPU works, it's a GPU bug, and you need to contact the manufacturer or find out if there's an updated driver for it. This is why disabling GPU is an option as more and more functionality moves to the GPU in newer versions of many Adobe products.

If the GPU and display profile isn't causing the problem, see:

I am experiencing this exact same issue in Lightroom with the adjustment brush tool and an external monitor. Does anyone have a response and/or fix for this? And no, turning off GPU acceleration did not fix the problem. Adobe? Apple? Anybody?

Just to let you know that the problem persists on my side. Although some time ago I started to consider if it's Apple problem. I have the same issue on some websites that change the cursor. Like on this one when you rollover buttons on the bottom https://www.hvdfonts.com/

This is what it looks like.

Flashing doesn't record on screen recorder.
