Free transform tool in Photoshop continues to stop working, throwing out an error. Deleting preferences only works for a while then it happens again. The program itself is extremely laggy and has screen tearing issues. This is ridiculous. what is the fix?

My PC is way above the requirements for this software, the rest of the adobe suite is working fine. Than

Hi!

Have you tried turning off your Graphics Processor Card and restartin your computer?

Preferences>Performance and uncheck Use Graphics Processor. Restart your machine and open Photoshop. If the problem persists then we know it's not a GP issue and you can turn it back on. If the problem doesn't pop up again, you might need to update your Processor card software or check to see if your card is compatible.

Let me know if that makes a difference?

Michelle

Hey Michelle, thanks for the fast reply.

I am up to date with the latest photoshop version (24.3) and on Windows 11.
The app will tear if I am navigating around the canvas or zooming in, often
making duplicates of the window scaling or leave old crop marks/boundary
lines on the screen until i move to refresh the image. Very laggy in
general, hard to take a screenshot to show this.

No error code either.

Hi!

Sorry to hear you are having this issue. I have a couple of questions for you: what version of Photoshop are you using? Which version of Windows OS are you on? And what do you mean by screen tearing? Can you describe that in a little more detail? Or provide a screen shot? And one last question, does the error give you a code number?

Thanks,

Michelle
