Question

Photoshop freezing

I've had an issue with my images suddenly freezing while I'm editing them.  The 'ruler' along the side also goes blank, sometimes both rulers and sometimes just the vertical one.

When this happens, no shortcut commands work and my cursor is just the black arrow, reglardless of which tool I select.

If I go onto a different image, however, photoshop works just fine, so it is not as though it is frozen as an entire programme.

The only fix is to save the image down and reopen, which is quite frustrating.  Any ideas?

If Photoshop freezes only with this image it seems that there's a problem with this file or it's a failure on your hard disk on this sector.

Try to save the picture with another name to another location and try again.

Which version of Photoshop do you use?

Which operating system do you use?

Please post the exact version and not only phrases like "recent", "latest" or like that.

My System: Intel i7-8700K - 64GB RAM - NVidia Geforce RTX 3060 - Windows 11 Pro 25H2 -- LR-Classic 15 - Photoshop 27 - Nik Collection 9 - PureRAW 6 - Topaz Photo AI

It's not only that particular image, it freezes when I'm editing any image but the other images I have open are not frozen, if that makes sense.

The problem has occurred across multiple images.

Using Photoshop CC 22.3.1 and Mac OS Catalina Version 10.15.7.  Am unable to update the operating system due to the servers at work and compatability issues.
