Photoshop freezing on iMac

It's possible chanting could work too.  Things just stop working sometimes when computers get old.  

Mine (late 2014  i7 32 gigs RAM, 27" iMac freezes in photoshop when enlarging a large RAW photo sometimes.  I can save the photo still, but can't make anymore changes on it as it stays frozen.

By now you probably already have a new computer.  Did you get the new M2 Mini or Studio?  What's it like now compared to the 2014'er?  I'm thinking of upgrading from my late 2014 iMac.  I'll miss the screen burn-in though.  

Try logging into another account (you may need to make one), still crashing? 
Try starting up in Safe mode (hold down Shift Key when booting), still crashing?

Nothing of it helped, sadly. 

Thank you for your sysinfo. A couple things to try:

1. If you restore your preferences using this manual method does it work correctly https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.
2. Go to Preferences > Technology Previews... and check "Disable Native Canvas" - then restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur?

Hi @LightBreeze2520405152b3 sorry to hear this. Does Ps crash no matter what tool you use or only with brush strokes?

A system hang or freeze requiring a computer restart usually means a low level failure such as a driver (bad video card driver, etc), failing hardware (hard disk, video card, etc.) or damaged OS installation. 
It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.
