Question

Photoshop freezing when adjusting content-aware fill...

Hey Folks, is anyone else having problems adjusting content-aware fill in the last two versions of Photoshop?

The initial content-aware function works fine, but literally every time I apply the subtraction brush the program freezes and must be force quit. (I'm running an M-1 Mac on Sonoma with lots of RAM, and the latest version PS.)

Any tips for solving this would be greatly appreciated!

Photoshop 25.1.0

M1 Mac, OSX Sonoma 14.1

1. Select empty area with magic wand

2. Apply context-aware fill

3. Program freezes with first application of source-sampling subtraction brush

Sorry, just getting back to this conversation (as I tried to use Content Aware Fill again and remembered I asked the question!)

I turned on the Graphics Processor and it now works!

I thought GPU was supposed to be turned off.

Anyway, thanks for the help!

Barbara, after much research and experimentation I seem to have solved the problem via "

"How do I enable Photoshop to use the graphics processor?" on the following help page.

Yes, same thing is happening to me, very frustrating. I've read past Q&A's where it is recommended to turn off the Graphics Generator or something, but mine wasn't on in the first place. Would love a fix. Totally freezes after I click on Content Aware Fill.
