Photoshop hardness doesn't appear on ay brush besides general brushes

Photoshop v23.2.1.303 has a blank greyed out hardness whenevr i try to use any imported brushes. I used to work on gimp until recently and I could an imported brush's hardness just fine. Why can't i do that for photoshop?

Can you be specific about the brush set and presets? Generally speaking, the ability to adjust hardness applies to a small percentage of brush presets. In the Legacy > Default Brushes group, for instance, only the first six presets can have hardness adjusted.

There are workarounds if you really need a particular preset to be softened, like paint in a Layer mask and feather the mask in Mask Properties.
