Photoshop Haze elimination

Hi there, I have a photo of a little sunbird but a flower in the foreground is slightly obscuring its eye, (which is still sharp behind it). Any advice on how to sort/improve this subtly would be appreciated!

And if you have the RAW file make sure to develop it in 16bit and work in 16bit to avoid unnecessary quality loss.

The blue Channel seems to have the best contrast, so one can use a Channel Mixer Adjustment Layer and go from there.
