photoshop image layers saved

Im new to photoshop, making logos and such i notice when i save the logo and reopen at a later date. all the layers are gone , now made into one solid layer. Is there anyway where i can save the current logo and reopen later to edit those indivdual layers?

Without knowing the full details, I'd just like to mention that logo creation is generally a job for Illustrator, not Photoshop.

What format are you saving the file? You should be saving as a psd file. Jpg and png files don't support layers.

No, that's the application. I mean the format: psd, jpg, png, tif, etc.
