Photoshop is corrupting my files.

having some recent troubles with photoshop cc. Especially awful as the files in question happen to be commissioned artworks.

Whats been happening is that when I save files on photoshop then turn off my computer, the nect time I open it it’s like all the previous data fron my photoshop use is gone (recently opened files, layout preferences, recently used document sizes, etc) and the psd files I had saved previously are unable to be opened. Managed to open one on another Program, looks like this. Imgur: The magic of the Internet 

It appears to have deleted some layers and squashed the others all over the place. I’m not very tech savvy, dont Know what could be causing this. I run it on a dell Computer.... any help is appreciate, this is the absolute.... worst..

    What have you done for trouble-shooting so far?

    Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:
