That looks like a classic case of an issue that might be fixed with Deactivate Native Canvas

 

Check it to turn it on, and restart Photoshop, and let us know if it fixes your issue.

Thank you so much for your speedy reply!! 
I have now done this, but there was another tip I found to turn off the "Use Graphics Processor" and restart. That did the trick. Would it be ok to leave them both off if I've been using them for the past few years? I have no knowledge of what those do.
