Photoshop is opening black and white images from Lightroom in a strange colour

Having converted my images to B&W in Lightroom, when I click 'edit in Photoshop' they appear in PS in a very strange colour. Does anyone know why this is happening and what I can do to stop it please? It only happens in certain catalogs while others are fine.

Thanks for any advice you can offer!

What exact Lightroom version are you using, and what exact ACR version do you have installed? I suspect one of them hasn't been updated in a while and is left at an old version level.

The reason this is important is that a major overhaul was made to camera profiles between the X.2 and X.3 releases of the camera raw engine. When you "edit in Photoshop", what happens is that Lightroom passes its settings on to ACR, which then opens the file silently into Photoshop. Camera profiles have to correspond for this to work.

I'm using Lightroom CC (Classic) 2015.12 with Camera Raw 9.12. I think it's all up to date!

Lightroom 2015.12 is very old and there have been many updates since that. I don't know why you're not getting them in the CC app.

Missing CC updates have been up here in the forum before. I'll see if I can find a link, unless someone else has it handy -

If I export it, it opens in black and white, but that means I can't retouch the shot. Changing it to 8-bit didn't make any difference.

In Lightroom - as you can see, it's black and white.

But When I open it in Photoshop, it has a weird colouring (that looks nothing like the original colour image)

When you choose Edit in Photoshop are you opening the original file or a copy with Lr edits?
