Question

Photoshop keeps crashing whenever I do ANYTHING

I installed Photoshop CC19 early this week. Im not new to the software but it is the first time I use it on Windows.

I just CANT use it. No matter if I open a document or start a new one, whenever I start using tools (clone stamp, move, change size, literally anything!!) It crashes. I even tried to disable some stuff on Settings>Performance that I saw here on other discussions but I can't even change any configuration without it crashing. I really don't know what to do because this bug doesn't even let me change the program settings.

Please if someone has any idea of what I can do let me know

Thanks!

Im using a Dell, 64 Bits, Intel (R) Core (TM) i7-7500U CPU @2.70GHz 2.90GHz

RAM: 16.0 GB

Hi Ando,

Sorry to learn about Photoshop crashing, it shouldn't be happening. Let's make it right!

  • Could you please let us know the operating system you're working on?
  • Also, have you tried reinstalling Photoshop and see if it helps?
  • Did it start crashing after certain update?

You may try resetting the preferences of Photoshop and let us know if it helps?

To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut: Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (mac OS) as you start Photoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.

Note: Please make sure that you back up the custom brushes, presets, actions etc before resetting the preferences.

Regards,
Sahil

Thank You! Im using Windows 10. It's the first time I install it so no updates.

I already unistalled and installed again, and nothing.

And I had no preferences yet as I installed recently and haven't even got the chance to use it properly, but I already tried it and nothing still

Hi

Try deleting the Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 Prefs file from this location

C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2019\Adobe Photoshop CC 2019 Settings

Have you checked Windows event viewer application log for errors relating to Photoshop

Thanks for answering!

Unfortunately, I don't have that file. I'm thinking that it's because I haven't even got the chance to use PS properly so I have no preferences yet.

On the other side, the event viewer doesn't show anything related to the program

Can you get into Photoshop long enough to post you PS system info, in Photoshop go to Help > System Info and copy and paste the whole thing into this thread
