Question

Photoshop lag on new computer when zoomed in with adjustment layers

I just bought a new high-end PC and am having long processing lags on Photoshop 22.4.2

The problem happens when I add adjustment layers (I've noticed it in particular with Exposure and Vibrance layers) and zoom into image. Changes to adjustment layers, or even toggling visibility on pixel layers, lags 1 sec or more. If I turn off visibility on the adjustment layers or zoom out to full size the problem goes away.

Do not have problem on my 5 yr old Dell with the version of Photoshop and a NVIDIA Quadro K4200 graphics card.

Details:

Photoshop 22.4.2 (I also tried rolling back to 22.4.1 - same problem)

Windows 10 (v21H1)

Computer:

Dell Precision 7920

Dual Intel Xeon Silver 4215R processors 3.20 Ghz

64 GB RAM

NVIDIA Quadra RTX 4000 (driver is current)

First, try disabling GPU in the preferences (Preformance tab). Any better?
If turning OFF GPU works, it's a GPU bug and you need to contact the manufacturer or find out if there's an updated driver for it.

Thanks thedigitaldog. It actually runs better with the GPU but was worth a try.
