Photoshop lagging showing/hiding layers & switching tools (often to/from zoom) on Windows 10
Hi all. Been having an annoying amount of lag when performing a number of actions in photoshop, mostly when i show/hide layers, sometimes with brush strokes and sometimes when I switch between certain tools (often seems to be triggered by the zoom tool).
It's been going on for a while. My system specs are well above those recommended, I've tried things like upping my RAM (currently at 32GB), using a large SSD for scratch disk, and most recently installing a new graphics card (an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060). I'm starting to think this is just a flaw with photoshop, because there are other apps I've been trying for illustration (like Clip Studio Paint) that just don't seem to have the same issues, even with the same file sizes and layers etc.
I'm almost certain this is a fault with the "use graphics processor" option in Performance preferences because a lot of it goes away if i disable that - but then obviously i miss out on a bunch of features like scrubby zoom and canvas rotation that are genuinely useful to me (also doing so comes with its own visual glitches). I've lowered my history states, upped my cache levels, done basically all the stuff recommended in the official documentation. Currently at the most up-to-date version of PS as I updated it this morning. I'm running Windows 10 on an Intel i7 processor.
Anyone got any tips for this? Can try and capture some video of it happening if that would help.
Many thanks in advance!
