Photoshop lighting effects

Hi, I used lighting effects in the past to great affect for my creative photos.

I am now running windows 10 on an ASUS laptop UX303UA  with Intel(R) HD Graphics 520 and NVIDIA GeForce 940M.

When I go to Filter, Render, Lighting effects and select a spot light the light displays from the bottom right corner. There are no handles to alter the size or position of the light source. The other properties are displayed and adjustable, brightness etc.

What do I do to get the handles to appear. I tried all the ones in the previous discussion but they did not work.

Also under Show most are grayed out however

    Layer Edges (Ticked)

    Grid (not ticked)

    Smart Guides (Ticked)

    Slices (Ticked)

    Pixel Grid (Ticked)

    UV Overlay (Ticked)

    All (Not Ticked)

    None (Not Ticked)

It does not seem to make any difference if grid is on or not as the handles are not available.

I have reset the preferences and it works now.

I used To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut: Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows)  as you startPhotoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferencesfiles are created the next time you start Photoshop.
