Photoshop not rendering png files or copy/paste

Recently photoshop  Version: 23.3.0 (on windows) stopped rendering png files or any thing I copy and pasted

When I try to copy and paste a file or screen shot it will show a very low res pixelated preview of the image in the navigator panel but the image itself is empty.  If I save the file - it only saves a very low res version of the screenshot/image.

And while I can open .png files - again - they do not render on the screen - I just get the big white box (although again a low res version is in the navigator panel)

Any ideas on what has gone wrong and how I can fix this?

Hi

Try unchecking this option in preferences and restarting Photoshop to see if it helps

Could you please post the png itself and a screenshot taken at View > 100% with the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Options Bar, …) visible?

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling - that didn't fix the problem.
