Photoshop Program Error with 22.4.3. Tried all current recommended fixes

Please help.

I never had any issues with PS until I built my new PC with a RTX 3070 gpu. Now I get that horrible "Photoshop could not complete your request because of a program error". I can't open any documents, save anything, or even CLOSE photoshop without getting the error over and over again (I have to go into task manager and force quit). The only way to stop the error is to disable the graphics processor settings completely - but this removes a lot of the tools that I use for my work. And sometimes I'll still get the error when trying to save! So it's extremely frustrating and I can't get my work done.

(It also never displays my most recent work on the home screen? Is this a factor in the bug?)

Background:

  • PS is on all the default settings
  • I've installed no plugins
  • Enable Generator has always been OFF
  • PS is registering the GPU (see system info picture)
  • PS is completely updated to 22.4.3
  • The 3070 has the latest drivers updated
  • I've tried rolling back several PS updates and it still hates my GPU
  • I've uninstalled and reinstalled PS 3 times
  • Cache Levels are 4
  • I've tried the Advanced Settings on all levels

I've tried all the fixes recommended online and it's just not working. At this rate I'll have to throw Photoshop away and try a different program. Has anyone else encountered this wall and managed to fix it?

UPDATE: After talking with a few other people with the same problem as me - it might be an issue with RTX GPU compatibility with photoshop. If you roll all the way back to version 22.0 or older, it does appear to work (fingers crossed).

Hopefully photoshop updates this on their help sites so that it's not something users have to really hunt for.
(Hopefully this comment helps someone else struggling!)
