Photoshop quitting unexpectedly !!

I'm trying to do the simplest task of merging layers then PS closes? The file isn't even that large and my mac can handle large files. What's going on with Photoshop. was there an update that messed something up ??

      I have the latest version of PS and have adequate hard drive space.

      I have uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop and re-entered the preferences. It seems to have helped ressolve the issue for now, thank you guys.

          Waht version of Photoshop are you using? And how much Scratch disk space do you have aavailable on your Mac?
