Hi I hope someone can help me. I have Photoshop version 12.1.1. I have to use a scratch disk because I have not enough memory on my Mac. For some reason now, Photoshop can't see the scratch disk when I go to Preferences - Scratch Disk in order to select it to work on PS. I have tried  to solve that problem with Adobe, but without any success. Photoshop could  connect ot my old scratch disk before, but I had to change because the old one got damaged. I wonder if that affected PS... I bought a scratch disk LaCie SSD.

I need your help please if you know waht to do.

P.S. I'm french, but any help, either in French or English, is welcome.

Merci,

" I have to use a scratch disk because I have not enough memory on my Mac. "

1. Scratch disk uses disk space, not memory.

2. Everyone uses scratch disk, though sometimes it uses the system disk.

I guess you are trying to add a new one. This is a very old Photoshop, I see.

Mac or Windows, and how is the new disk formatted?

I'm trying to connect an external disk. I don't know if the language I'm using is adequate while describing my problem. I can see this external disk on the Finder, but when I go  to Preferences in Photoshop - Sratch disks or (Disques de travail) in French, it is not displayed, so I can't select it. As you can see in the screen shot below, only the hard disk of my Mac is displayed. I have a new version of PS - 12.1.1. Thank you for your help. I hope I can find the solution.

PS 12.1.1 is not a new version. The current version of Photoshop is 22.1.1.  I can see from the screen shot that this is a recent release.

So... how is your external disk formatted? For example, EXFAT, AFP+, NTFS...
