Can I set my selections and have them remain "on" even after restarting?  Photoshop CC 2017

Thanks

No, @ Tanuj Sandal, PECourtejoie's answer was not correct.  I do not need to set up an action script to have default selections.  In fact, a later update seemed to fix because I've done nothing and issue disappeared mysteriously.

I have unmarked the answer as correct, and marked your answer as correct where you mentioned that the update fixed it.

    Hello!

I would create, in the actions panel (Windows>Actions) a new action set "My actions" and a new action, name it "Snap" with an "insert menu item" entry that you get from the flyout menu of the action panel, then you go to view>snap>all, hit stop.

Now, go File>Scripts>Script Events Manager, click the "Enable..." checkmark, select "Open document" as your Photoshop event; click the "Action" radio button, select the set "My actions" and the action "Snap" and you should be all set!

(you might need to do it for "new document" as well.

I can't think of any way to make Photoshop open a file with an active selection.  Akash has referred you to Alpha Channels.  One of the nice aspects of using two or more screens for Photoshop is that you can have all your important panels permanently open.  It then becomes a simple matter of Ctrl (Cmd) clicking the saved Alpha Channel in the Channels panel to load it as a selection.  The same applies to objects in layers, and layer masks.  They can all be Ctrl clicked to load the selection.   That sort of workflow streamlining can add up to a bunch of saved time.   I hate working on laptops for that very reason.

    Hi Thegoframe,

You can use the Quick mask and save your selections. Please refer Save selections and alpha channel masks in Adobe Photoshop

Let us know if that helps.
