Photoshop stable and fast version?

I'm tired of looking for solutions why it doesn't work, why something disappeared, why another super online process takes 100% of cpu, why it's so slow and the like. My question is:

Which version of PS should I install to work smoothly? (CS6 is not an option ;  )

Which version of PS is best for Intel and not ARM? (This question is more for @Adobe), should I just choose a version from the same year as the OS? (2021/22) or any before Apple Arm came out?

I'm using OSX 12.6.8 Monterey on an Intel Macbook Pro
i7, 16GB, Radeon R9 2GB (Overall, a very fast computer and I do not plan to change for now. I'm definitely not one of those people who buys "Our fastest mac ever" every year. ;  )
