Photoshop stops working after short sessions

Hello! I enjoy using Photoshop for light graphic design and render compositing. Oftentimes it'll work just fine, but it always seems to stop working after a short period of time. It doesn't stutter, freeze, or any of the above, it just doesn't carry out any functions that I want it to. Want to adjust an image using H/S/L? Won't work. Want to make a new project with the clipboard's dimensions? Doesn't open anything. This problem also occurs when saving, moving things inside a project, etc. Very difficult. This problem rarely fixes itself. Restarting the computer always will get it back to the original state, which helps but doesn't fix my issue. How can I fix this? I've tried factory resetting my computer, reinstalling photoshop, closing background applications, anything. The problem still shows itself frequently. Below are my specs:

16gb 2133MHz ram
