Question

Photoshop stuck on "Save As pdf"

Greetings boys and girls.

What the title says. Save, Save As--doesn't matter...it's always "pdf". I've tried every trick I can find and nothing seems to work. It's not a huge deal, but I try to save and have to manually change to whatever format I need, then have to click the warning box, etc. So those small delays are adding up and, like a grain of sand in the wrong place, starting to get irritating.

I'm hoping someone will have an idea I've overlooked.

Thx

I have a conclusion by reading the conversation that you have open Photoshop PDF file which you are trying to save using Save As command. By default, it will offer to save in PDF what you can change from Save As Type drop-down list in Save As dialog. Do you see such option to choose different file format when saving?

Yes, that is what I see. I see it when I open a jpg, tif, psd, png, etc. It doesn't matter which type of format I am working with, that's the option I get when trying to save.

I've included a screenshot showing a jpg I opened and you can see the Save dialog defaults to the pdf.

So I have to use the "Save As" option which means I get a pop-up asking me if I want to overwrite the existing file. That's the "warning" I'm getting.

Thats where I am confused. If you see pop-up which is asking you about overwrite of existing file then you have that file already saved as PDF. From there comes my, probably wrong conclusion.

So, the problem is why Save As dialog is defaulting to PDF not to some other format like PSD? Try to save one file as PSD then try again.

Click on Save as type drop down list and choose some other format like PSD.

Aha! Thanks for explaining. Hope someone can shed light on that.

    Indeed!

(I'm thinking I see a re-install in my future, however.)

Which "warning box etc.". What are these warnings exactly. Warnings are important, but can sometimes be suppressed. You are, however, expected to save PSD -and- JPEG, never just JPEG, from your edit sessions to avoid constant damage to photos each time you re-edit.

If I'm working on an image and want to save the progress I can't simply hit the Save option as Photoshop wants to save it in a pdf. So I have to use the "Save As" option which means I get a pop-up asking me if I want to overwrite the existing file. That's the "warning" I'm getting.
