Photoshop tools not working

I'm on a desktop iMac using Photoshop 23.1.1 and cannot use the Lasso or Healing Brush tools eg using Lasso, I circle the area to be removed then Fill > Content Aware > OK but the area is not removed.  That should be pretty straightforward, I'd have thought.  The same seems to be happening with the Spot Healing Brush and Healing Brush tools.  Can you please assist?

If above suggestion does not work, can you post some screenshot with entire window and problem visible?

That is unusual and I can't replicate the problem. 

Sometimes simply closing and reopening Photoshop can fix some minor glitches.

You could try resetting preferences or uninstalling/reinstalling the application.
