Photoshop unable to handle larger files suddenly
Hello!
Since the 2023 update Photoshop has seemed a little glitchy.
I recently have been working on a large file. I made it TOO big at first (12,000 x 9000 px at 300 ppi). PS wouldn't save it, even in large format.
I started over and reduced everything down to 5880 x 7560 px at 70 ppi. Everthing was going fine until I added some pattern layers. Then PS was lagging and would not save.
I've never had this problem before.
I keep getting errors about not enough memory, but I've made documents much larger before with this current computer I have. One error when trying to save said the file was "empty."
PS is being sluggish too. Trying to zoom in, or when moving things. Also when closing the program.
I've tried to save the new file (that is less than 200 MB) but it will not save.
I've deleted/reset preferences, but I pretty much import all the same stuff again, so I'm not sure what the point is. I need my patterns and brushes and such. I've spent years making my collections. But nothing changed when I started having these problems. I just tried to save a huge file and PS broke... 😞
I tested another, smaller file and it seemed to save with no problem. I don't know what to do.
I'm working on an older machine, but I've been using it for the past 6 years doing work in PS the whole time without issue.
PS Version: Photoshop 2023 version 24.0.0
OS: Windows 10
Steps to recreate: I'm not sure. Create a large document with multiple layers and at least 2 pattern layers and try to save.
I expect the file to save, but the actual result is the file does not save.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
