"Photoshop unexpectedly quit" but didnt reopen any of the files... restore?

So i made the big dumb mistake again by not saving in the past 6 hours. Then i got a "photoshop unexpectedly quit" message. Despite my hopes and like how it usually does it didnt reopen anything... and everything in the "open recent" tab were old files i havent opened in months....

Is this file updates lost? Doesnt happen often but every other time photoshop has closed its reopened what closed or atleast been on the recent files? File had been previously saved before those 6 hours so the file wasnt deleted. Also im on a mac.

though i should have saved... photoshop just seemed to screw me a bit here. HELP!!!
