Photoshop Unusable with Multiple Artboards

Photoshop becomes unusable after about 12 artboards. Every move, every click, every command gives me the spinning rainbow ball.

How is Figma able to have thousands of artboards that never seem to cause an issue, and PS can't handle a dozen?

Hey, @COREY294718297957. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll need more information to help you figure this out. Please share the system information from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy and paste into a text document > upload and attach here. 

 

Does the problem exist if you use Photoshop (Beta)? Other factors, like the size of the documents, the number of layers, and the smart objects present in each artboard, must also be considered.

Try these steps: 

 

1—Go to Edit > Preferences (CTRL + K) > Performance > Advanced Settings > Disable 'GPU Compositing' & restart Photoshop & check if it helps.

2—If you're using any plugins, press and hold the Shift key while launching Photoshop to skip loading plugins. Check if that helps.
