Question

Photoshop video files won't open

Hi Adobe. I'm facing an issue opening video files in the latest version of Photoshop. I was able to import files as of yesterday. I have looked through the forum with all previous issues and tried all the solutions I could find, yet I still get the same error:

"Could not place “FileName” because the video file could not be opened."

I'm using the newest Mac M2 Chip with the latest OS update.

I just tried this "move your preferences" method.

It didn't work for me.

I tried importing an h264.mp4 and a Quicktime ProRes.mov file.

I'd exported both files out of AfterEffects with Media Encoder.

Is this an Apple issue?

Hi @Frederick29967907vsv4

Let's make sure we're in a default state and there are no stale settings somewhere:

Restore your preferences using this manual method:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#Manually

Does it work correctly?

If that doesn't solve it, you can quit Photoshop and put the Settings folder back.

It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.
