Question

Photoshop will not overwrite jpeg files through "Save As". Always creates a "copy" file.

This issue has been going on for over a year across several PS updates and a few OS updates.  When I try to save from a PSD file to overwrite an existing jpeg file, it will ask if I want to replace the file...I click to replace...and it creates a duplicate "copy" file any way.  It is infuriating at this point.  How can this be a difficult fix?  Over the many months this has cost me hours of tedious navigating to folders to delete and rename duplicates...and has led to wrong files being linked into INDD files in several instances. What gives?

You can continue to wait for Adobe to fix this, or use a script as a "short term" workaround.
