Photoshop Won't Let Me Add Duplicate Photo From Lightroom

Hey all - having a real pain in the butt issue with lightroom and photoshop lol. I try to add a duplicate of the same photo from lightroom to photoshop (second version of photo edited a little more so I can layer them) and everytime I try to add the photo the second time, I get an error saying "The disk copy of _____ was changed since you last opened or saved it. Do you wish to update it?" It only gives me two options: Update (which just updates the original photo I have on photoshop) or Cancel (which leaves me just the one original photo). Basically if I've added a photo from lightroom to photoshop, it won't let me add it again... PLZ HELP 😞 Just want to disable the duplicate error message on photoshop. Also - this worked perfectly fine with my old Mac but not on my new Macbook..

We're sorry about the trouble with Photoshop. Would you mind telling us the version of Lightroom and Photoshop along with the operating system you're using? Which file format are you using? Since when have you been seeing this error? Is it possible, if you could share the screenshot of the error? Have you tried any troubleshooting steps so far? We're here to help. Just need some info.

I was using the up to date version of both photoshop and lightroom and the brand new M1 Max macbook pro. Wondering if Adobe hasn't worked out all the bugs for the new computers? I have tried reinstalling, switching back to the older versions of photoshop and lightroom, looking through all of my settings and nothing is working. Gone through all the steps. I've also tried multiple different file formats to see if that was an issue but it wasn't.

 

For some reason, I cannot import the same photo from lightroom to photoshop without the photoshop error message. I just need to be able to add an image to photoshop as many times as I need from lighroom. 

 

I appreciate your help.
