Please Help: How to Move a Layer to Mouse Click Position?

Hi 🙂

Imagine you have a huge canvas - a plain background layer.

You create a new layer with some text on it, which is tiny compared to the huge background.

How can I select this text layer and click somewhere on the huge background and have the text layer jump in position to where I just clicked?

I'm sure there must be a shortcut, but I can't seem to find it?

Thanks!

There is no auto function for what you're asking.

Sounds like your font is too small for the canvas.  In any case, open your Navigator panel.  It's very useful for working with large canvas size.  Magnify image by moving slider to the right. Position red box over your target area.

Hope that helps.

You may need to enable the auto select option in the toolbar or select the layer in the layers panel.

One may use the move tool to click/hold/drag the text layer to the desired position.

Or enter free transform CMD/CTRL T and enter in the co-ordinates in the options panel.

With the move tool and a selection active, one can align the text layer to the selection.

Yep, it seems the only options for me are to enter co-ordinates or simply manually move it.

Although the text layers are tiny, it is possible to move them the usual way - I just hoped there might have been the ability to move to a mouse click position.

Doesn't matter though - it's not a problem 🙂

Cheers!

Ah yes, the font is tiny on the canvas 🙂

That's a pity there isn't the ability to do it, but thanks a lot for taking the time to reply.

Cheers!
