Please help - I can't save my file as PSD

Hi,

I realised today that all psd files on my computer and removable hard drive have been changed to Photoshop 13 image files. I've tried every solution I can think of including scanning my hard disc for errors and implementing windows fixes, as well as trying to create a new, blank Photoshop file and trying to save it as psd. The save is successful, but when I hover over my file or check properties it's a Photoshop 13 image file again.

Pls help!

Ah, right. This one-digit offset catches me all the time (2012 version 13 - 2023 version 24). Maybe they should skip a version just to get in sync 😉

Yes, everything works as it should then.

CS6 was version 13 of Photoshop. Installing it has taken over the file associations. If that is the only version installed, then it is working correctly.

I don't have photoshop version 13 installed. I'm currently using a licensed copy of photoshop CS6 which i bought many years ago as a student. (back when they still sold it on a disc)

What that means is that Windows file associations are set to open PSDs in Photoshop version 13 by default (whether or not you have other versions installed).

Version 13 is a long time ago; that was the first CC version after CS6. Have you had this installed recently, is it installed now, and which version are you using now?
