Please help me!! How to resize an image to scale??

I have created a 80" x 40" canvas. I need to scale a leotard to scale; gymnast's individual sizes (in inches)  for bust, waist, hips and length have been provided, and I need to upload the final canvas (with all parts of the leotard pattern) to a company that will print onto fabric; I then simply cut them out, sew them together and embellish accordingly.

 

I make custom leotards by hand, which is labour intensive and may take weeks from start to finish. Please can anybody help me? I've been trying for weeks to figure this out. I'm about to throw my iPad at the wall. How do I select the part of the leotard pattern and know how wide it is, how long it is in inches? There must be a way.

I don't use the iPad version. The full version has PPI, or Pixels per Inch under Image > Image Size, which determines the print output size.

    Have you been in touch with the textile print professional? In my experience, they prefer to receive math-based vector graphic files that can be re-scaled up or down to any size that's required without quality loss.  Or, as a second option, a vector graphic that's been converted to a high quality PDF file.

     

    Photoshop is a pixel-based image editor. If you significantly resize the image, you're likely to introduce unwanted image distortion and artifacts (pixelation, fuzzy edges, blurred graphics, etc...).  Talk to your print professional. They should be able to tell you which software and settings they expect based on the type of ink, process & fabric they're using.

      Are the various components to be scaled separately, and then combined? There is the Measurement Scale option in the Ruler tool.
