PNG Quality When Exporting

I'm looking to use either Quick Export as PNG or Export  > PNG to remove Metadata Bloat from some PNG files.  Do either of those options change colors in the PNG files or lose quality?

PNG format cannot lose color or quality. It can only change the file size depending on the compression algorithms and filters (all lossless).

@r-bin This is an incorrect statement. While PNG is a lossless format, saving a 24bit image as a 8bit indexed PNG file WILL lose colours and quality (for example). Saving a 32bit per channel rendered image as 16bit per channel PNG file will also have a negative impact on the full dynamic range of the original rendered image.

 

Neither example has anything to do with compression or filters.

    If you use File > Export > Export As, you have options to save metadata and color space.  You also have a quality slider which directly impacts file size.

     

    Obviously, stepping down from a PSD to a JPG or PNG will effect image quality to some extent. 

    How will the image be used?  How many total pixels (height x width)?
