Poor Vision: Is there a Large size custom Tool Panel?

Hi!

My Uncle has trouble seeing the tiny icons of the tool panel. He only uses a had-full, Selection, Clone Stamp, healing Brush, Patch tool, Brush, Magnifier, .

I know there are custom panels. i looked at configurator but the custom panels it can create still have a 23 pixel icon limit.I could imagine a big type like floating panel for his most used tools.

Any ideas?

Thanks

maxi

The 200% setting is really not adequate for today's high res displays.  For me, switching to 200% and large font makes unreadably small text barely readable if my face is 2 inches from the screen.  (And I don't have particularly poor vision.)

You can set Windows to display larger, but it will screw up other apps and often make them unusable.

I'm going to try this next:

Adobe App Scaling on High DPI Displays (FIX) | Dan Antonielli

    Hi Maxi

Your uncle doesn't need the tool bar at all.  Especially if he only uses those few tools  They all have single letter keyboard shortcuts, and you can help by making the relevant keys more visible, and print a nice big crib sheet to remind him of the positions.  In fact, it just occurred to me that there are probably keyboards out there for poor sight, and indeed there are.  This one sells for $30 on Amazon for instance.  I bet those keys can be pried out so you could paint the outer edges of the relevant keys

Something like this would surely be easier to see than any toolbar

Incidentally, I was told that my sight is on the cusp of having my driving license taken away a couple of weeks ago, and I am awaiting my _third_ appointment with the eye consultant, so I know what it is like dealing with poor sight.  In my case it is only low light that leaves me a wee bit blind, and I can easily pass the sight test in good daylight, but those little eye charts always seem to be in dark rooms!

There is another option.  If your uncle really only uses those few tools, then he probably doesn't need CC.  If he reverted to an earlier version, then there was a program called Configurator

Create custom panels, Creative Suite - Adobe Configurator 4 | Adobe Labs

If that looks a bit hard to use, then with a case like yours I suspect that asking on our Scripting forum would very likely get you a volunteer.  Heck, I'd do it myself if I knew how.

    Photoshop Scripting

    Good luck

I just need a tool panel with 5-6 tools. Large enough to see. I've tried the other option, but everything becomes bigger and eats up screen space. I know custom panels can be made. Just that configurator limits the icons to the 23 px tool size.

You don't say what version of Photoshop you are using but if it is the current version of CC then have you tried setting Preferences - Interface UI scaling to 200%. It is really designed for high resolution screens but may work for poor vision depending on the screen you are using.

It is the latest CC version. The issue is still the tool panel is hard to see, work.
