Question

Pressing the spacebar makes my iMac beep over and over again

MacOS 12.6

iMac Retina 5k 27" 2020

While in photoshop, when I press the spacebar to pan around my system plays a rapid beep over and over until I stop pressing the keyboard (same when I use space+cmd to zoom.)

I checked my system and PS keboard prefs and none of them bind to the spacebar that may confilict with the photoshop commands.

Any tips on how to resolve this? (Besides dumping and resetting the prefs.... already did that)

Doesn't do this for me; space bar works without a sound. The latest version of PS and macOS.

If what Jane writes doesn't work, try resetting your preferences (when you quit) and try again. You can find an option to reset preferences in the General Preferences>General.

This isn't a bug.

As stated in my original post, I've already tried resetting my photoshop prefs. That was the first thing I did and unfortunatly, it doesn't work.

Can you check to see if this works and let us know?

In macOS: Apple menu > System Preferences > Accessibility > Keyboard > Navigation > Uncheck "Enable Full Keyboard Access".

When I enable full keyboard access and open a file in Photoshop then press space bar, the file closes and then my OS switchs from PS to Chrome. But the beep goes away. I can then reopen the file in PS and then it works fine.

This isn't a solution or workaround by any means but its definatly a clue to something!

I'm confused by "my OS (operating system) switches from PS (Photoshop) to Chrome".

Photoshop is not an OS
You tagged macOS as your OS. Are you saying your OS changes to chromeOS (Linux-based)?

Please clarify.
