Prevent Photoshop From Remembering Character Settings

As the topic title states, is there any way to prevent PS from remembering character settings from previous projects? Or a way to set default character settings and keep them as the default?

Doing a lot of work with typography, it can be kind of a pain if I forget to reset the panels before starting in on a project. Also, resetting the panel also resets the type size to 12 which is fairly small when working on a bigger canvas. I know this is nitpicky, but it would be nice to know if it's an option. Couldn't find anything on this forum or any others, so apologies if it's been asked and answered before. As far as I know, no other Adobe programs do this. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.
