Question

Print dialog doesn't save media type

Oddity with Photoshop print dialog: with a printer preset for glossy photo paper, if you do Cmd-P>Print Settings>Printer Options>Print Settings, Media Type shows as being set to Plain Paper. If you set Media Type to Premium Photo Paper Glossy, then do OK>Save>Print, print comes out good. Then if you do Print again, the Media Type will have reset to Plain Paper. Is this a known problem? iMac 6-core i5, Photoshop 24.1.0, Mac OS 13.0.

In the Printer Settings panel (this is part of Epson's driver rather than Photoshop) you can "save a preset" which includes media type etc.

I hope this helps

The dialogue panel in Printer Options > Print Settings is a printer driver dialogue not a Photoshop panel.

Does that mean it's a problem with the Epson driver or the Apple print dialog?

It should be remembered. In Photoshop, the settings used to make a print can be saved in the document but the control is all the driver.

IOW, if you open a new document, set up all your options in Print (dialog), print, and close the document, nothing else, you'll be asked to save the document. The next time you open and go to the Print dialog, those settings should remain for that print driver.
