Pro Display XDR + Photoshop Brush halo.

I've noticed a strange issue when running PS 2024 on my M1 Mac Studio + Apple Pro Display XDR. I've attached a video as an example. I'm seeing a weird haloing when using the brush or clone stamp tool. It makes it almost impossible to clone as I can't tell if the color is translating properly. 

 

Anyone run into this issue or have a solution. Please let me know if you need more information.

    Hey, @Jonathan_Mitchell. I'll need more specific info about this, and I'll help you figure this out. Please share the system info from Photoshop Help > System info > Copy & paste into a text document > upload & attach here. 

     

    I've moved the post to Discussions for now. Do you use an additional monitor? What bit depth is the document you're working on(8,16 or 32-bit)? 

     

    In Photoshop, try these steps one by one to check how each impacts what you see:

    1 - Go to Settings (CMD+K) > Technology Preview > enable Precise Color Management for HDR Display.

    2 - Go to Settings (CMD+K) > Technology Preview > enable Deactivate Native Canvas & check if the issue exists. 

    3 - Test if changing the Brush Tip Outline to Normal or Thin from Settings (CMD+K) > Cursor. 

     

    Let me know how it goes. If none of the steps help, include a longer & clearer video of the issue.

    Hi Sameer. Thank you for the tips. Unfortunatly, I changed what you suggested but still exibiting the same problem. It seems to happen mostly on color parts of the image. Not so much on white areas. 

     

    I'm working in 8bit typically but tried the file in 16bit and had same issues. 

    I do typically work with two monitors. I tested PS with second monitor off and had same issue. 

     

    I tried to make another video but it's incredibly hard to show the effect while filming. Screen recording doesn't show the problem either.

     

    I tested the same file on my 2021 Macbook Pro 14" XDR and did not see the same issue.  Then attached monitor to Macbook Pro and didn't see the issue.


    Could it be that my Mac Studio is the issue? Should I reinstall Photoshop?
