These 2 articles will explain that CS6 and Sierra aren't really compatible. CS6 was made a long time ago, and Sierra has a lot of new technology. The way I handle running older apps and still mainly running Sierra is that I have a clone of my previous operating systems with the older versions of my apps installed, and when I need to use them or teach them, I boot my computer from those drives. Another way for you may be to use an app like Parallels to create a virtual machine with Yosemite or something installed, and then install your older software versions into the virtual machine.
