Problem with file size on Photoshop CC

Hi everyone,

I have a problem and it will be really great if you could help me.

Since I've downloaded Photoshop CC I have a huge problem with my old Photoshop CS5 files when opening on the software.

300dpi files appears really small, like on the screenshot:

And when I create a new file, it appears as big as the old one on Photoshop CS5 but way more heavy

I can see the differencies between the two files: The pixels. Which I don't understand it's why a file who was big on photoshop CS5 is so tiny on CC? When I save it it's really bad quality even if it's on 300dpi which is inconvenient in my work.

How can I fix it? How can I have great quality files on 300dpi and 1000px without being so tiny?

It's really hard to work with those conditions...

Thanks a lot for your help,

Lucie

One time it seems to be px per cm and other time px per inch.

Yes you're right. But what I don't understand is why is it so small on CC and big on CS5? I didn't change anything between the two softwares. When I open my file on my computer it appears big, in good quality and not to heavy but in photoshop I can't see it bigger than the screenshot without ruining the quality.

Photoshop only works with pixels. That's the basic unit.

The ppi setting is just metadata added later, as an instruction to the printer. It can be changed arbitrarily at any time without affecting the file.

Pixels per inch only comes into play when it's used as an input parameter to determine the number of pixels.

So you have one file 1181 pixels square, and another 3000 pixels square. That's almost four times the area.
