Problem with lines running down a scanned slide

I have a problem with lines running down a scanned slide. Does anybody have any ideas about how to eliminate the issue other than clone stamp - laborious and fiddly I guess? I would be grateful for any suggestions.

    Try the Spot Healing Brush Tool and press Shift to keep a small brush in a straight line as you drag it down the white line.

    Thanks. The Brush works ok in most of the image but not the face. I am not sure whether any other tool might be able to deal with this area?

    Yeah, you might use the Clone Stamp Tool on the face, perhaps on a separate layer, so it's non-destructive (select Current and Below in the Sample drop-down) carefully doing little parts of the face at a time.

    I assume you can't get a better scan.
