Problem with Photoshop CLASSROOM IN A BOOK

Hi, yes I’m a co-author of the Photoshop Classroom in a Book, thanks to Jane-e I can help explain.

When you follow the step you are trying, you should see Open in Camera Raw on the File menu, as shown below:

Is that what you see, or is Open in Camera Raw dimmed and unselectable?

If Open in Camera Raw is unselectable, that is something I’ve heard of. I’m not sure why it happens, but it might sometimes have to do with the order in which things got installed (not your fault). If that is the cause, try uninstalling Bridge 2021 and Photoshop 2021, then reinstall them. If that still doesn’t work, reinstall again but reverse the order in which Bridge and Photoshop were installed.

Important:

The 2020 edition you are using of Photoshop Classroom in a Book shows Camera Raw 12. But you said you are using Photoshop 2021. In August of last year, Adobe released Camera Raw 12.3, which is a total redesign that looks completely different. For this reason, the Camera Raw steps in the 2020 Classroom in a Book do not match the current Camera Raw 13, so if Camera Raw 13 is what is on your computer, be aware of that. We updated the Camera Raw steps to match Camera Raw 13, in the current 2021 edition of the Classroom in a Book.

This is on page 282 with the three mission crw files.

• Are you starting in Adobe Bridge? Which version?
• Try one of the mission images for testing purposes. Can you right-click and open in Camera Raw? (Or open Camera Raw from the File menu?)
• What happens if you double-click one of the images?

You should be able to open all three, but let's start with being able to open just one.

You can double click on them to launch RAW files or within Photoshop with an image open:  Filter > Camera Raw Filter
