Problem with sizing in Photoshop

Ok so it has been several years since I have really used photoshop. I was working on some photomanipulations for a website where they must be sized 800 X 600 pixels. I know what that would normally look like. So when I go to image > image size and set it to pixels and change the size, the image is extremely small when the view is at 100%. Really confused on what I need to change. Maybe it is the resolution on my computer? I am working on a dell inspiron 7506 2n1.

I'm guessing that you several years ago had a standard resolution monitor (like 1920 x 1080), but you now a high resolution monitor, maybe 3840 pixels or more on the long side.

If the new monitor has the same physical dimensions as your old one, images will display at exactly half the physical size when screen resolution is doubled, because the pixels are 50% smaller.

Web browsers and image viewers will enlarge images to 200% when detecting a high resolution screen, but Photoshop cannot do this, it has to display correctly, one image pixel for one screen pixel at 100% view.

To view images the same way other applications do in Photoshop, go to View > 200%.

Note– Images for the web, resolution is irrelevant.

Double check your settings in Image Size.

Make sure your units of measure is correct.

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
