Problems with Photoshop 24.1.0 Windows cropping PNG files
Adobe Photoshop 24.1.0 Release (Windows 10) does not handle PNG files the same way as v. 23.x does. I use Photoshop mostly to clip up large scans of several receipts. The scanner will output PDF's, JPG's or PNG's (and probably other file formats). I made a scanning error and had about 100 receipts being output as PDF files before I discovered my mistake (I wanted JPG's). I used Adobe Acrobat Pro (32 bit 2022.003.20310) to export the PDF's to PNG files so I could crop all the receipts out and then convert them back to individual PDF's for each receipt. In previous versions, Photoshop was agnostic about working with PNG's or JPG's. When I crop, I use the "Content Aware" setting very frequently, because I often need to rotate the receipts between 1 degree and 5 degrees to straighten them (they tend to move a bit when putting the scanner lid down). In version 24.1.0, using PNG files, once I cropped a receipt, it wouldn't let me rotate it except in multiples of 90 degrees. I went back to Acrobat and re-exported some scans as JPG's, brought those into Photoshop 24.1.0, and had no problems cropping and rotating. I then launched Photoshop 23.5.3 Release and tried working with the same PNG and JPG files. I had no trouble cropping or rotating either PNG's or JPG's--so somewhere, version 24.1.0 developed a problem.
To be really specific, I use the crop tool, with Delete Cropped Pixels and Content-Aware both checked and W x H x Resolution option selected. I do NOT have Use Classic Mode selected. I hope I've provided enough information.
