Program Error when using Puppet Warp

Photoshop has been running fine on this machine.  Don't know if it recently auto updated.  Suddenly, every time i use puppet warp, after a few pins and some movement, i get the message "Could not complete your request because of a program error". 

My graphics card is compatible, photoshop is up to date

Here's what I've tried:

-Downloading new graphics driver

-resetting photoshop preferences

- disabling generator

- disabling "Use Graphics Processor"

-Trying all Drawing Modes in preferences

-Rolled back to 22.4.1

Nothiing worked.  I have no idea how to proceed.
