Program error while saving files [2021]

Once again, I can't save PSD files because "of a program error", and PS creates duplicates and names them like this: "Adobe Photoshop 202236825051152618", so every time you save your file, a copy is created with a similar name.

That happened with the last version and followed the steps you post here: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/program-error-opening-psd.html, and NONE of them worked, so I had to delete duplicates and rename files. After the last update, everything seemed to be back to normal, but this happened again.

So yes, that bug is back.

@Kmsmolk have a look at the below link to see why Adobe does not recommend working from networks or removable media

"I don't have enough HD space to save internallyInternal storage is cheap to upgrade, depending on your system, there's no reason why you can't upgrade/install more storage.

Been having the same issue through multiple updates and version upgrades. It's beyond tiresome that Adobe refuses to allow you to use a network drive through its flagship product. I don't have enough HD space to save internally and to juggle files like that is an absolute terrible workflow.. What a mess...

Are you saving locally or to a server, network drive or external hard drive?

Do you get an error if you save to the local drive (the Desktop)?

Hi, I have the exact same problem and I actualy realised after reading your comment, that if I save to my local drive I don't get the problem anymore... It's not really suiting me cause I'm working on an external hard drive and would like to keep on working that way. Could you please explain me if I need to do something so i can save my files again externaly ? Thanks a lot, Gaël, from France.
