How do I select a layer from my texture and use simple tool on it such as the move tool inside the 3d render preview.

I managed to do it once but whatever (for example copy paste the layer) it creates a new object.

My mesh has two maps and I want to position my 2d texture layers across them.

Thank you,

(ps i know it can be done, i managed to do it once they I can't replicate, didn't find anything in the documentation)

Hi, Try this:

1. In the 3D panel select the material you want to edit

2. In properties click on the folder next to the texture property you want to edit e.g Base color/opacity/roughness etc and select Edit Texture

This will open a PSB file with the 2D texture overlayed with the UV map

3. Use window arrange (e.g. 2 up vertical) to see both the 2D texture and the 3D preview

4. Edit the 2D psb texture file - you can add layers etc

5. Hit Ctrl+S on the psb to save the change and see it on the 3D preview   (repeat 4 & 5 as required)

6 Once finished do a final Save on the psb and close it.

Thank you very much for replying Dave, but this what I am trying to do:

Drop a single layer texture on my 3d mesh (test X) and adjust the texture precisely across my material diffuse maps (there are two where the X is placed). Sadly whatever I try it drops the test as an object in the scene. I want to drop it as a surface texture on objMesh as belowe.
